Adani Group’s Digital Odyssey: Venturing into E-commerce and Digital Payments

Adani Group, a prominent conglomerate in India, is preparing to venture into e-commerce and digital payment services.

According to a report, the group is nearing the completion of launching a jointly branded credit card and is contemplating applying for a license to operate on the unified payments interface (UPI) network.

Additionally, discussions are underway for Adani to provide online shopping through the Open Network For Digital Commerce (ONDC). These new offerings are anticipated to be seamlessly integrated into Adani’s consumer app, Adani One, which initially focused on travel-related services like flight and hotel bookings when it was introduced in late 2022.

Initially, Adani’s e-commerce and payment solutions will target its existing customer base, potentially reaching hundreds of millions of consumers who utilize its gas, electricity, and airport services. Users can accrue loyalty points through bill payments and duty-free purchases, which can be redeemed for online shopping.

Moreover, there are plans to incorporate NDTV content into the Adani One app this year, as revealed by a source. With the addition of these features, Adani One could resemble Tata’s comprehensive super app Neu, which offers a wide range of Tata group consumer products and services in one platform.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that the conglomerate is also poised to enter the online food ordering market through Tata Neu, leveraging the ONDC platform.
