GR Foods: Delivering organic Mizo delights

Among the lush green hills of Mizoram, a passionate entrepreneur, Dr. Angela was
driven by a vision to elevate local agricultural produce through advanced processing
techniques. This venture began with a small table top Vacuum Packing Machine to
process Alocasia fornicate (Baibing) and bamboo shoots (Rawnaltuai & Mautuai) in
August 2020. Collaborating closely with certified organic farmers under Mission
Organic Mizoram from various districts, the initiative started small but with big
ambitions.
As the business gained momentum, it expanded its horizons in 2022 by introducing
dehydrated forms of nine different Mizo vegetables. Attention to detail in packaging
and ensuring extended shelf life became the hallmark of their products, resonating
well with consumers who value both quality and hygiene.
The journey didn’t stop there. GR Foods ventured into meat processing, specializing
in Grilled Pork and Smoked Chicken. What sets their meat apart is the innovative use
of bamboo charcoal during processing, which significantly reduces carbon monoxide
emissions by 80%, ensuring safer products for consumers.
Looking ahead, GR Foods sees vast opportunities in the food processing sector. With
a commitment to innovation and quality, they continue to strive towards enhancing
Mizoram’s agricultural potential while meeting the evolving demands of health-
conscious consumers.
Dr. Angela the founder of GR Foods, shares her vision to distribute her state’s
