He thinks anti-establishment, says he as he talks about the top 10 things that he would like the textile-fashion industry to follow.
i. UNITE: As an industry, we should rally together under one umbrella, end-to-end.
ii. EYE ON WORLD: We should look at the world as a market instead of only focusing on India.
iii. SEIZE OPPORTUNITIES: Opportunities have increased, more so since China fell out of favour as a manufacturing hub.
iv. CHECK SURPLUS: Control excess production to bring in more sustainability and responsible behaviour.
v. ADOPT TECHNOLOGY: Our industry should leverage technology to cut down on wastage.
vi. WORK ON SUPPLY CHAIN: Strengthen the supply chain.
vii. GO SUSTAINABLE: While undertaking retail expansion, be particular in your selection of materials. Go for recyclable, sustainable materials.
viii. BE HONEST: If you are giving discounts, the cost is already included in the price. So don’t cheat the customers. Be honest.
ix. BE FAIR: The labour / work force you employ should get fair wages to sustain their families. Give them their due.
x. CHECK POLLUTION: Pollution is caused through usage of water and electricity. A lot of work can be done in those areas.
Points to mull over for sure and from a pioneering veteran in the industry.
