Flora Khiangte, a determined woman from South Mizoram, is transforming the
region’s well-known crop, Roselle, through her entrepreneurial venture, ZeroTru.
Since 2022, Flora and her dedicated team have been processing Mizoram’s native
Roselle Hibiscus into tea and non-alcoholic beverages. Traditionally, this little red
flower has been harvested, sun-dried, and processed into tea by rural women and
valued for its rich source of vitamins and antioxidants.
Under Flora’s guidance, ZeroTru has commercialized this tradition, maintaining the
health benefits and leveraging its global demand. Committed to rejuvenating
Mizoram’s traditional methods, her venture aims to aware future generations about the
cultural values associated with processing Roselle. By expanding harvesting
operations and employing more rural women, she is fostering women’s economic
growth and trying to preserve tradition. Apart from Roselle based products ZeroTru
also process and sell other daily used spices, such as Cinnamon, Pepperr, Turmeric etc
sourced from locally available resources.
ZeroTru prides itself on natural processing, using minimal equipment and blending
traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques. Rural women handcraft their
products, ensuring quality and authenticity. Recently, ZeroTru has expanded its
product line to include Roselle-infused jams, jellies, and candies, showcasing the
versatility of this remarkable flower.
While primarily operating within Mizoram, Flora is seeking collaborators to further
her Roselle revolution. To connect with her and explore collaboration opportunities,

vision is not only revitalizing a local tradition but also creating a sustainable future for
Mizoram’s rural communities.
