100-year-old vintage building, The Red Bari – a sustainable and heritage cafe in South Kolkata

A 100-year-old vintage building, TheRedBari has opened doors to a sustainable and heritage cafe in Sadananda Road, SouthKolkata.

The founder and director of The Red Bari, AvantikaJalan came across this age-old property through an article which said that the seller wanted to sell the house to someone who would preserve it. Being an ardent believer in sustainability, Avantika and her team decided to acquire the building to restore it and open up a sustainable cafe to pay homage to the City Of Joy.

The menu of 1,300sq ft and 40-seater cafe focuses on Fish Fingers, Mutton Bolognese Bites and Chicken Wings served with an array of sweet, tangy and spicy dips, finger food, sandwiches, some Calcutta street food, classic French Omelette, Breakfast Special Pancakes. The beverage menu consists of freshly brewed coffee and the teas come from the owners’ tea estates in Assam. The take-away counter radiates the English bakery vibe.
