Govt’s Sundarini Naturals initiative guns for product diversification

Sundarini Naturals, a food brand of the State Government’s Sundarban Cooperative Milk and Livestock Producers’ Union Ltd (SCMLPL), a brainchild of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, was rolled out to empower the women of Sunderbans in the year 2015. It started with packaged milk but now it has done away with packaged milk and sells milk in bottles. The cooperative organisation was set up to give women of the Sundarbans an opportunity for an honest livelihood. In fact, the name ‘Sundarini Naturals’ itself was given by the Chief Minister.

Sundarini products are sold through its outlets as well as through their mobile app https://www.sundarini.organic/shop/our-mobile-app. One can download it from Google app and place orders for daily delivery of milk and dairy products, rice, pulses, sweets or anything at their apartment.

The Cooperative scores over others for its organic method adopted in every step right from milk collection, transportation to its dairy plant and then manufacture of milk products.

The profit money is deposited in the bank accounts of those women who work in this co-operative. This has helped almost 3000 downtrodden women to fight back in life. For this contribution, central government’s National Diary Development Board has selected Sundarini Naturals as Ideal Model. It is for the achievement of Sundarini Natural, that West Bengal’s State Animal Husbandry’s initiative Sundarban Co-operative Milk and Livestock Producer’s Union limited has been selected as the best co-operative in milk production.

This success is a great boost to Mamata Banerjee’s government. This initiative has been applauded and awarded by central government to empower women. Most of the Milk Co-operatives of the country mainly concentrate on producing milk and milk products. But Sundarini has also engaged in producing rice, eggs and honey. To add to this all Sundarini products are organic and no chemicals are added. The cows are not injected with antibiotics and are fed with corn, sargam, ajola and barshim grass which are also produced in organic way. Milk is stored in steel containers and never stored in plastic containers, so that the quality is never compromised.

In last couple of years Sundarini Naturals has created a sense of differentiation. They want consumers to reconnect with the joy of eating without compromise having desire from freedom food – freedom from harmful chemicals, freedom from adulterants, freedom from preservatives. They always maintain absolute transparency by providing Laboratory Test Reports from reputed, independent NABL accredited food testing laboratories in the country.
