State-Govt-newly-launched-app-Yatri-Sathi

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the YatriSathi app, aiming to provide affordable taxi services to commuters.

The app’s development is credited to Open Network For Digital Commerce (ONDC), which is offering technical support to ensure its smooth implementation within the state.

“I am launching the Yari Sathi app now. It will be of great help to the public,” Banerjee said.

Snehasis Chakraborty, the State Transport Minister, remarked, “This app-based taxi service is being introduced on a nationwide scale just ahead of Durga Puja, marking it as the inaugural government-run app-based cab service in the country.”

He further explained that the ‘Yatri Sathi’ app underwent a three-month trial period with 21,000 registered vehicles before its official launch.

Chakraborty emphasised that the state’s aim is not to generate profit from this initiative. The app’s launch occurred simultaneously at NSC Bose International Airport in Kolkata and Hazra crossing in the southern part of the city.

In barely three months, more than 60% of the yellow and blue -and-white taxi fleet have switched to the state government-state transport department officials sai
