28th EIGMEF Festive Fair – An opportunity for Eastern Apparel Industry to Flourish

The 28th EIGMEF Festive Fair flagged off with 148 participants, more than 700 brands and many retailers and trade professionals from all over India at “Milan Mela” ground on Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, opposite Science City, Kolkata spanning for three days, 5th, 6th & 7th July 2023. East India Retail Group was the part of this grand event.
“Apart from showcasing the latest collections from brands, the fair also provided a rare opportunity to the industry professionals and entrepreneurs to get together under the same roof to network and exchange ideas. Not only did the fair get the who`s who of the industry, but also included many leading apparel brands and manufacturers under one roof, along with some of the topline retailers of the country like V-Mart Retail Ltd.Baazar Style Retail Ltd.Baazar Retail Pvt. Ltd., Man Mohini, SNV Shoppee and also from South India like The Chennai SilksKalyan Silks, Naidu Hall”, said Alok More, President, EIGMEF.
Like the Indian economy, which is shining world over, the apparel industry in eastern India is also witnessing a boom. There is a positive change everywhere. Lot of national brands are coming up from east, new brands are emerging, a fresh set of smart and capable entrepreneurs are coming up in the market with fresh ideas. All these together is making the environment conducive for growth. Raj Dugar, Vice President of the committee, said “Keeping in sync with the positivity all around, we have also infused a lot of fresh, innovative elements to the fair this time. The single objective of the fair is to become a platform for the apparel industry of eastern India and act as a catalyst for its further development.”
The fair was presented by Comfort Lady along with that tech partnered by ndhgo. It also showcased different brands like Thunder jeans, Moustache, Dollar, Kidcity, Nesta, Mayfair, Sewberry, Bhavy Collections, Siddique Creations, Boyz Studio, Appleeye, Gemini, Born Free, Tom Royal, Westin World and many more along with Softcon Business Solutions and Shree Lakshmi Creations for fixtures.
“East has often been neglected. People have the wrong perception about east but it needs to change now. 28th EIGMEF fair has been a spectacular show of the talent, skill and ideas of apparel industry. The show is not just bigger and better, but it has now also got a national perspective to it.” said Jay Varma, Secretary of EIGMEF. His thoughts were echoed by Prakash Rampuria, Co-convenor of the fair, “Kolkata is the biggest hub for sourcing garments for the world and this fair reflects it by its sheer scale and style. This is just the beginning.”
